Make your data work harder – with the right connectors

Connectors are tools that allow you to link together and extend low-code solutions with a variety of data sources. With connectors, you can streamline your business processes by accessing ready-to-use actions and triggers provided by the data sources. There are three types of connectors you can use:

  • Standard connectors: These allow you to connect to data sources that form part of the Microsoft 365 eco-system, such as Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and LinkedIn. You can use these connectors to integrate and synchronize your Power Platform data with other Microsoft products.
  • Premium connectors: These allow you to connect to business systems that extend beyond Microsoft 365, such as Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics 365 Sales, SQL Server and so on. You can use these connectors to access extended functions and data from those systems and combine them with your Power Platform solutions.
  • User-defined connectors: These allow you to create your own connectors using your own triggers and actions. These connectors are based on functions called up by the underlying service you wish to connect to. You can use these connectors to access services unavailable in the form of connectors set up in advance.

Connect to data on the Microsoft platform

Automate routine tasks and processes in apps such as Excel, Outlook and SharePoint using Power Automate cloud-flow connectors. Use SharePoint data from messages, forms and websites to create and publish apps rapidly. Use the Microsoft Dataverse connector to connect to the data available in virtual tables and create user-defined Dataverse solutions.

Create a solution from a single location

Bring together data from multiple sources to create individual solutions, using connectors from Microsoft, non-Microsoft providers and independent providers. Take previously isolated data – either locally or in the cloud – and combine them to create more robust solutions. Consolidate information, rework legacy functions and generate new processes by using data from multiple platforms with Power Platform products.

Develop user-defined connectors

Create solutions of your own to communicate with APIs, services and systems even more extensively. You can also use connectors to save time and development resources. You’ll always stay right up to date thanks to optimized application life-cycle functions. Join a network of connector developers and share the certification solutions you too are developing for independent or non-Microsoft providers.

Optimize governance and security

Implement your data governance guidelines per client or environment by means of data loss prevention (DLP). Use Power Platform for Admins connector, the Power Platform Admin Center and the Power Apps PowerShell to manage DLP guidelines for your entire company. Consolidate your data from multiple sources using Power Automate cloud flow connectors, supported by the security of Azure Active Director (Azure AD).
